2006/2007 Season
Fillies have enjoyed a successful 2006/2007. Seniors finished 4th in the South Wales Ladies Football League. The under 16’s now boasts 3 Welsh internationals including Sophie Dando who was recently offered a trial with FA Cup winners Arsenal LFC. The under 14’s finished runners up in both league and cup. On the road to the cup final the defeated Dinas Powys in the quarters and Merthyr Saints in the semis. The final between Fillies and Cardiff City proved to be very exciting and tension-filled game before Cardiff claimed the cup by virtue of a 3-2 win. Under 12’s finished 3rd in the league and top of their group of the SWGL cup group 2. Angharad Chown and Nicole Hall represented South Wales and Kiki Hancock and Bethan Eaves represented the Boys/Girls Clubs of Wales.
Merged 2007/2008
CAMBRIAN and Clydach Vale Boys and Girls Club have merged with the highly successful Ferndale Fillies and will run a total of 13 football teams during season 2007/8.
The merger is viewed by both clubs as a huge step forward in development particularly with the FAW introduction of club accreditation schemes from this season.
Cambrian have been trying to promote girls football largely through its school based coaching programme and now has the opportunity to expand this initiative with a range of ages.
From the Fillies perspective they now have an opportunity to operate within the Welsh League pyramid structure and to utilise the excellent facilities at King George's for some of their matches and training.

20th June 08.
Cambrian and Clydach fillies have been touring schools in the Rhondda Fawr to promote girls football.
The ‘Give it a Go’ initiative was created to encourage girls aged between 7 and 8 to participate in a free taster football session during school hours. The main objective of this scheme was to give the girls a chance to try something different.
The 45 minute sessions were used to encourage basic passing, dribbling and ball control. In total, around 200 girls participated from 10 schools and all who attended were given certificates. The majority of girls enjoyed the experience and some expressed an interest in continuing the sport.
Thanks to Police community support officers, Natasha Foster, Suzanne Williams, Cherylin Pryor, Ceri Lyons, James Page and PC Andrea Williams for their assistance during these sessions and also to all the headteachers who allowed us into the schools at such short notice. Hopefully at the start of next term we will be able to reattend, training 9,10 and 11 yr olds.
1st April 2008
